Remember a post I did a couple days ago about the Peanut Butter Chocolate Bananas?
Well, in that post as I was rambling off ideas you could do with that chocolate mixture, I said you could use it on popcorn! As I was writing about the possible popcorn idea, my mouth starting watering! (you remember the excitement in my voice as I was writing about it, don't you?!)
So, last night, after I promised the babes we could have a super cool treat since they ate all their supper, we whipped out the almond bark and popcorn and started going to town with some fun ideas!
Here is what we came up with...
We started by popping 2 bags of microwave popcorn. One bag for 1 flavor and a second for flavor #2. Make sure to lay your popcorn out on wax paper so it comes off easily after the chocolate has hardened.
Melt your almond bark in the microwave (30 second increments so you don't burn it). I used 4 squares for 1 bag of popcorn and it turned out to be just about the right amount. Once the chocolate is melted spoon it into a plastic bag and cut off the tip.
Quick Tip: If you are not patient like me, and want to do this right away... the chocolate may be way too hot to put into a plastic baggie. So to cool the chocolate off faster... stir up the chocolate and let it stream back down into the bowl like pictured below. Doing this allows the air to get to the chocolate and it immediately starts to cool it off and thicken up the texture.
After your chocolate is in the bag and you have cut off the tip... then just start drizzling your chocolate and coat the popcorn!
Right after you have added the chocolate, feel free to throw in a little extra "add in!" We chose a white chocolate-peanut combo, for that delicious salty sweet... but you guys could add in whatever. Next time, I'm thinking M&M's. Yum!
Since Daddy likes white chocolate and Mommy likes chocolate, chocolate.... we did two batches!
Chocolate, peanuts, and popcorn! YUM-O!
After the chocolate hardens, break apart the popcorn and put it in a bowl! Try to see how long it lasts around your house. Around our house... not soooo long!
I mean look at how good it looks!
The babes loved it and after they went to bed so did me and Daddy!
A little Iron Man 2 and some popcorn! It was a good Friday night!
Happy Weekend Everyone!
Chat later,
Jen
Boy does that ever look yummy! A few weeks ago I was craving something like this after hearing Lisa Marjama trying to make fudge popcorn. I was desperate so I made popcorn and added some mini chocolate chips. WHAT A MESS but the girls and I love it...melted mess everywhere but oh well ;)
